The city of Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia and the place where the Apostle St. James is buried. The city’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its distinguished old monuments around the Cathedral and the tomb of St. James.
Made of granite, the spectacular Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela features massive bell towers and statues of St. James. The Obradoiro facade of the Cathedral is one of the most exceptional examples of the Spanish Baroque period.

The final destination of the Medieval pilgrimage route (El Camino de Santiago), this city is the best place to enjoy fresh fish and traditional Galician bread. I absolutely loved this area. Santiago de Compostela has everything you could ask for-culture, great food and friendly people. It was picturesque and clean. In addition it was a great base from which to easily visit other areas. It is a city I could return to again and again. We were here during off season so not sure if high season would be as pleasant.

The room was great, and the bath a very welcome piece of luxury after the Camino. Staff were very helpful and went out of their way to assist.
The main weakness was the breakfast, which I would call “ just ok”, and I had expected more.
The hotel was a little further than i thought from the cathedral and the main restaurant strip, but still an easy walk.

Lovely city.
Lovely city. Impressive main square and very impressive cathedral; fairly compact. Old town great: loads of eateries - specially down Franco St but many elsewhere. Finding tourist information office needs a little determination but very helpful when you succeed. Many good tours reasonably priced -especially Ria Basis and also Finisterre tour. You can easily get to La Coruña by train on your own but turn up a bit early because there may be a few security checks. Not an expensive place for a major tourist destination.

The bedding was fabulous from the firm mattress, beautiful expensive sheets and comforters, towels they went to all expenses to make sure that we were comfortable after walking 200 miles on the Camino. The bathroom was pure Vida. 💕😍🫶🏼

Santiago de Compostela is a nice place to visit but way more crowded than I anticipated. Suggest pre booking tickets to things you want to see. The cathedral and museum was wonderful. Also, suggest reviewing restaurant options and make reservations early for popular places. And pre-arrange a taxi two days prior to airport departure. If arriving by bus also pre-arrange a taxi.

We enjoyed visiting the cathedral and the surrounding old town. Also seeing the steady stream of pilgrims arriving elated at the main square in front of the cathedral. We had hoped to see the priests swinging the censor during mass, but this apparently only happens on certain days of the year. I think that 2-3 days is enough to see the sights.

Could not get a better location in Santiago. Just in city center and a few minutes walk from the main square and the old center. A lot of bars and restaurants around. I sad at the balcony and enjoyed it all.
Good room with a nice bed. Bathroom big with all you need.
Best of it all was simply the view from my room. I will not look for a different place next time in Santiago.
Check in was easy and they have a no-key system which makes it super easy to enter the place and your room without remembering a key or card.
Very friendly personnel clearly trying to make up for disappointed guests by the misleading name of the hotel. Allthough a kettle and coffee and tea is costumary in American chain hotels, this one is a Mariott, at roughly 280 euros was not even included, but the staff quickly had housekeeping bring me one. the parking was very convenient. Sometimes hotels offer apples or sweets at reception, here you get lemons, believe me you won t need them... They did have umbrellas though like most 4 star hotels in Spain
Hotel has recently been renovated, in contemporary style, to a high standard. We were pleasantly surprised at check-in by a complimentary upgrade to a first floor junior suite (thanks Susanna!). Room was tastefully decorated and immaculate. Comprehensive breakfast buffet with great selection of hot/cold options, fruit, etc. Easy walking distance to the centre of Santiago and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Exe Peregrino. At the price, one of the best hotels I have stayed in.
The place was larger than I had expected. There were many rooms hidden in this building. One wouldn't have guessed that there was a mini hotel behind the door and lobby. The concierge was very helpful. The restaurant across the way is excellent. Have the coffee flan. (But serves beginning at 9pm,) and there is a handy pharmacy in the same plaza. The place is a 2 mile/ 4km from Santiago. Most people would have continued on to Santiago, but I needed a stop here.
We arrived at the hotel after travelling up through Spain from Sevilla and staying in a mixture of up market hotels - paradores and NH hotels. This was better than all of them. The room was spacious and comfortable, the public areas were very good and welcoming, there was an attractive garden in the centre of the hotel and it was easy to get into the old town. The hotel felt that it was cared for by the owners - it had a good family feel.
Everything was perfect. Even though we arrived early and we couldn't checkin, Pablo allowed us to leave our luggage at a different place, and then he was SO helpful with it!!!! He went above and beyond with everything. We asked him several questions during our stay in Santiago and he always responded and gave us great tips. Staying at his place was the best of all the other places we stayed at during our trip for Spain.
Everything from the first steps into the hotel was exceptional. Luisa and Christina were very helpful, hospitable and friendly. We had a Superior room with a lovely view of the back terrace area. Clean, very comfortable and the value for money was above expectations. A heartfelt 'Thank You' to the staff for making our time in Santiago de Compostela special. Looking forward to coming back.
The location is perfect, in city center, close to old town and shopping area.
The room was so comfortable, so neat and clean, felt like home.
The owner, Jose was so friendly and helpful, like friend you've known before.
They serve tea, coffee, fruit and candy.
Just 1 night, but definitely will choose this if there's a chance to Santiago again.
The hotel is located in a very good position… so close to the cathedral and to the city center… Mary, the receptionist was so kind and so polite… she upgraded us to a better room with view and balcony… breakfast was really good. The right place to rest once you ended your camino de santiago.
Hotel is a ten to fifteen minute walk from Old Town where the main Santiago attractions are including the unbelievable cathedral and the square .
It is very quiet at night , away from noisy traffic etc. so you will have a good sleep .Breakfast was fab ! Great choices .
Perfect location to finish Camino - near cathedral and bus station. There is air conditioning in the room 👍 A man from hotel stuff was really kind and helpful and despite we came earlier he let us in ❤ He speaks English which is not common in Spain.
This is a perfect hotel direclty in the City Center of Santiago. We had a really nice view from the window. All Pubs, Bars and Shops are at one's fingertips. The Cathedral ist also 2 Minutes away. Perfect stay for a rest after long Camino :)
I loved this historic (rustic in the best sense of the word) hotel located in the same plaza as the Cathedral of Santiago. The service was wonderful with staff being very helpful and accommodating (especially with tending to my car).
Excellent stay. Elegant atmosphere which feels still warm and like at home. The two ladies who run the place are warm, welcoming, and passionate. I've stayed in many hotels in Santiago for work and I can highly recommend this one!!
Very efficient. We arrived very late, close to midnight and we had all the details of how to access the hotel and our room. The room was so inviting after a long day at work and then a late flight out to Spain.
- we arrived in Santiago after walking the Camino from St Jean Pied de Port in France
- facility was a convent over 200 years ago and has been converted to hotel
- managers of property super!
It is walking distance from the bus station. Easy to arrive if you’re starting the Camino in other cities in Spain.
Overall it was good, modest and clean.
